The sculptures are inspired by various historical concepts of overcoming obstacles and transforming architecture. This includes the construction of human pyramids in Morocco, Moroccan Brutalism, and Barrada's family stories. Barrada comments,
"I'm excited to present my first large outdoor sculpture at the courtyard of MoMA PS1. In a world where powerful people build walls to exclude or contain, I wanted to focus on a different form: the pyramid. Instead of walls, it offers steps, games, secrets, and possibilities. I aimed to unite the reliability of geometry with the fragility of body structures, celebrating forms of unity and liberation."
The exhibition is organized by Ruba Katrib, Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs, and Jody Graf, Assistant Curator, at MoMA PS1. MoMA PS1, 22-25 Jackson AvenueLong Island CityNew York, NY 11101, United States
